PARK NEWS
Green Isle Park Playground is Now Open
The new playground at Green Isle Park has been completed and is now open for play. The playground is located within Green Isle Park at 900 Greene Avenue in Allouez. The Village of Allouez Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department worked with Lee Recreation, out of Cambridge, Wisconsin, over the past year to come up with several designs to replace an aged playground that had reached its lifespan. The four original designs were then presented to the community to choose their favorite which was installed this summer.
The playground has a ramped play structure, several slides, an arched catway bridge, several climbers, a Comet spinner, a Volta inclusive spinner and a wheel chair accessible cruiser/rocker all on a rubber play surface along with a new multi-use swingset. This play structure will be enjoyed by children for many decades to come.
NOTICE: KAYAK LAUNCH RELOCATION
Due to the low water levels at Green Isle Park, the kayak launch has been moved to Eastlawn Park (1515 Boyd Street) for the remainder of the season.
Kayak Launches
For a paddling adventure, visit the two ADA accessible kayak/canoe launches at Green Isle Park, 900 Greene Avenue, and Allouez Optimist Kayakers Point, 415 W. Lazarre St. in 2020. These improvements allow for access to the East River and the Fox River for paddle sport enthusiasts and others to recreate on these water bodies.
The Village of Allouez would like to thank the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Office for Coastal Management under the Coastal Zone Management Act, Grant #NA20NOS4190092 and the Fox River/Green Bay Natural Resource Trustee Council for funding these projects.
Pets in Village Parks
The Village of Allouez allows domestic pets in village parks and trails, but the pet must be on leash at all times. Per the ordinance, pets are still not allowed in park buildings, in playgrounds, on sport fields, or in picnic areas. We would like to also remind all pet owners and custodians to clean up and properly dispose of all pet waste immediately from all park grounds and trails.
