Assessed value compared to Market Value

A revaluation of assessed values for all homes and businesses located in the Village of Allouez will be completed in 2021. The majority of assessments within the Village have not changed since they were decreased in 2013 due to the recession. The current market conditions have created a substantial increase in values. The revaluation is a requirement of the Wisconsin Department of Revenue to make values so they are compliant with Wisconsin State Statutes. An increase in value does not mean an increase in taxes owed. When the value of a municipality increases the mill rate decreases, which will result in a minimal change for a typical property owner. The 2021 revaluation will be performed by the Village Assessor, Fair Market Assessments, and will be completed by using existing data the assessor has on each home and business. Updated exterior photos will be taken later this fall and in early spring of 2021. Property owners can expect to receive their notice
of assessments sometime in late July. Notice of assessments will be mailed 30 days prior to the Board of Review which will allow time to speak with the assessor before values become final.

Annually the assessed values become final after the adjournment of the Board of Review. The annual Board of Review is typically held in the later part of May or during the first week of June.    If you have questions or concerns about the assessed value of your property, feel free to contact the assessor’s office.
