NOTICE OF SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW

Village of Allouez
Brown County, Wisconsin
Date: April 21, 2026

Heavy rainfall received from April 11th through April 14th coupled with saturated ground conditions led to the flooding of the East River in the Village of Allouez. Clearwater from the heavy rainfall inundated the Village’s sanitary sewer system causing the system to surcharge and backup.

During the inspection of the sewer system on the 14th of April, Village Water Department staff observed wastewater flowing from the top of the sanitary manhole located north of the Allouez Ave. Bridge into the East River. The surcharged conditions overwhelmed the sanitary manhole structure leading to a minor overflow. An open pick-hole near the top of the structure along with worn adjustment rings allowed water to spill from the structure.

A local contractor repaired the leaky manhole after flood waters receded the morning of April 16th.
